Evaporation and Autoignition Characteristics of JP-10 Droplets with Hyperbranched Polyester as Additive

It was found in our previous work that hyperbranched polyester (HPE) can generate radicals and accelerate the chemical reactions of hydrocarbon fuels used as initiators. In this work, evaporation autoignition characteristics JP-10 droplets with or without HPE were investigated using high-speed backlight imaging technique detail. The results indicate puffing micro-explosion phenomena HPE-blended fuel autoignition. When a 0.1% mass concentration used, droplet lifetime reduced by 16.5% at 850 K 18.0% 900 K. A mechanism promotes micro-explosions proposed analyzing images combustion SEM residues. Overall, study provides method for improving performance JP-10.
